WHAT
IS AN INTERLIBRARY LOAN OR ILL?
|
The Interlibrary Loan Service (also known as
"ILLs") is a service that your library offers you when a book or material
you are in need of is not available at your local library but may be obtainable
at another library.
Most materials are available for lending
through other libraries, but there are restrictions sometimes concerning
the materials. The majority of most libraries will not loan:
-
newly published books
-
video cassettes
-
genealogical materials
-
audio cassettes

WHAT INFORMATION IS
NEEDED TO REQUEST AN INTERLIBRARY LOAN?

You may request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) by
coming to Long Beach Library and filling out a request slip. Most
of the time, an ILL can be found with just the following information:

However, the more information you give us, the
easier it is for us to locate your request. |
|

WHAT ARE THE FEES FOR
REQUESTING AN INTERLIBRARY LOAN?
|
We do not charge our patrons for ILL Service
unless the materials have to be mailed to us. The costs for requests,
as well as the order in which we try and request the materials, are as
follows:
-
requests found in Harrison County branches are
free of charge.
-
requests found outside of Harrison County branches
cost the charge for shipping.
We will not try to find requests outside of
Harrison County UNLESS you tell us to do so. |
|
HOW LONG WILL I BE
ABLE TO KEEP THE BOOK OR MATERIAL?
|
Lending periods vary from library to library;
most allow at least two weeks. It is best to pick up your ILL request
as soon as you are called and told that it's in. |
